Tonight We Dance celebrates the youth who finish high school in the Cape Flats neighbourhood of Hanover Park, Cape Town, South Africa.

Students beam with pride as they pose for photos in their glamorous ball gowns and tuxedos set against the backdrop of the Cape Flats on the night of the matric ball (prom night) in Hanover Park. For one night these teenagers get to feel like movie stars as they are celebrated in a community where only around 30% of students manage to finish high school.

Many students drop out of high school due to high teenage pregnancy rates, substance abuse or being recruited by gangs. Although many students have the desire to finish school most are forced to drop out and work to support their families.
